Something was missing...
So we created it
The Light Room was created from a simple feeling that something was missing.
Not space, not venues, but somewhere that feels calm, welcoming, and genuinely connected. A place where people can gather without noise or pressure. Somewhere you can sit with a cup of coffee, take a breath, and feel at ease.
Because the truth is, we’re less connected than we used to be.
Life is busy. We’re on our phones more than we’re with each other. And while Linlithgow has an incredible number of community groups doing brilliant work, there wasn’t quite a space that held that feeling of quiet, everyday connection. The kind that used to happen naturally. The kind that still matters.
In a way, The Light Room is our version of that.
Not “church” in the traditional religious sense, but a space that gives people room to check in, share, support one another and feel part of something. A place where connection is easy, and where it’s ok to slow down a little.
Why we do this
Community has always mattered deeply to us.
Rebecca grew up in a small town where looking out for one another was simply how life worked. If someone was struggling, people showed up. Meals were delivered. Jobs were shared. Support was given quietly, without fuss, because that’s what you do.
That sense of care and connection has stayed with her, even now living far from where she grew up. It’s shaped everything, from her charity work locally to the way she works with people day to day.
The Light Room is an extension of that. A space built with the same values. Thoughtful, supportive, and grounded in real human connection.

Meet your hosts
We’re Rebecca and David, and creating spaces where people feel comfortable and cared for is what we do best.
We met working in hospitality, and in many ways, that’s still at the heart of how The Light Room runs. There’s something we both love about welcoming people in and helping them settle.
Rebecca is usually found in conversation, whether that’s one-to-one or with a small group, helping people feel at ease and able to be themselves. With a background in community work, talk therapies and photography, she brings a calm, steady presence to the space.
David is the quiet force behind everything running smoothly. He’s the one making sure things work, fixing problems before they become problems, and keeping everything ticking along. If he hadn’t gone into IT, he’d almost certainly be running a small boutique hotel or café somewhere. He just has that instinct for looking after people.
Together, we care deeply about the experience people have here. The details matter. The atmosphere matters. And we’ll always do what we can to make things feel easy, comfortable and well looked after.

What it feels like
When people walk into The Light Room, something shifts.
It’s calm. It’s quiet. It feels easy.
People sit down, have a coffee, and often end up chatting more than they expected. Sometimes they share things they hadn’t planned to. Sometimes they just laugh. Either way, there’s a sense of being able to relax into the space.
That’s what we’ve always been good at creating. Not just a room, but a feeling.
Who's it for
The Light Room is for people who care.
People who are building something thoughtful. Who value connection. Who want to bring others together in a way that feels calm, welcoming and genuine.
It’s for those who will treat the space with respect, and in doing so, help it grow into something even more special for the wider community.
The bigger picture
More than anything, we want The Light Room to be known as a place people genuinely love.
The kind of space where someone says, “Oh, I love it there.”
A place where ideas are shared, friendships are formed, and meaningful things begin. Where people come together, not because they have to, but because they want to.
The little things
There are small details here that make the space what it is.
Good coffee. A proper selection of herbal teas. David’s fudge, which has quietly become a favourite. And if you look closely, you might spot a few hidden Lego figures dotted around, a tradition started by one of Rebecca’s students that’s carried on ever since.
But more than anything, it’s the care behind it all.
The aim is always that you shouldn’t have to ask for anything. That things just feel… right. Looked after. Thought through. Easy.
If you’re planning something, or just curious about the space, you’re always very welcome to get in touch.

Arriving by Car
Free parking is available right next to The Light Room, making it easy for you (and your guests) to arrive without any hassle. There are about 70 spaces available. During weekdays, it tends to get busy with commuters, but there are usually a few spaces; there’s also a customer spot if needed. At weekends, parking is usually plentiful.
It’s best to use Google Maps, and enter ‘The Light Room, Linlithgow’, then you’ll get right to the door.
The space sits just off Edinburgh Road, you access under the rail bridge.
Finding the Entrance

The Light Room is slightly set back, which is part of what makes it feel so calm and private – but it can make it a little less obvious on first arrival. If you’re facing the cricket club, you’ll see a fence with a wooden ramp behind it. That’s us!
We recommend checking the Google Maps or What3Words link before you arrive and using the short video above if you’re walking from the station.
If you do get turned around, just give us a call – we’ll happily come and find you.
